Village Church Wirral is a fresh beginning—a church replant that stands proudly on the rich gospel legacy handed down by those who came before us. Our story began with Providence Mission, a community of believers dedicated to sharing Jesus’ love in Irby and its surrounding areas. Over time, Providence Mission evolved into Irby Evangelical Church, a ministry that thrived for many years and touched countless lives.
In recent times, however, challenges led to a decline in attendance at Irby Evangelical Church. Grateful for the support of local pastors who sustained our ministry, the remaining leaders sensed that a new start was needed. In March 2024 Andy Dykes met with and eventually joined David Sharp and Brian Knight as part of the eldership of Irby Evangelical. Through heartfelt conversation and prayer, it became clear that God was calling us to a significant transformation for the sake of the gospel in Irby and across the Wirral.
By April 2024, a dedicated group came together to explore what replanting our church might look like. Through much prayer, discernment, and the valuable insights of experienced church leaders, we reimagined our vision, clarified our values, doctrine, and membership. United by this shared mission, the two groups merged their efforts, forming the foundation of Village Church Wirral.
In September 2024, a new community of committed members took shape, and in October, Andy Dykes and Josh Walsh were appointed to lead this exciting new chapter. We warmly invite you to join us on this journey—a mission that honours our past while embracing fresh vision, energy, and the promise of a welcoming future.
